Runs Great Privacy Policy

Runs Great is a vehicle and equipment maintenance app made by Bridged Systems, LLC. The short version: your maintenance record belongs to you. Runs Great has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics services, and no tracking. Your records live on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your personal iCloud account. We have no server that stores your records, and we do not sell or share anyone’s data.

What the app stores

Everything you enter to keep a receipt-backed maintenance record: your vehicles and equipment (name, make, model, year, an optional VIN and license plate, and a photo), service logs and schedules, fuel fill-ups, odometer and hour readings, expenses and costs, parts and tire sets, recall statuses, notes, and the vendors you record (business contact details such as a shop’s name, phone, and address).

• Receipts and photos. Receipt images you photograph or import are stored with the record they back. On the way in, images are re-encoded and camera metadata — including any embedded location — is stripped.
• Reminders. Maintenance reminders are scheduled on your device using Apple’s notification system. A notification preview can show the service type and, by default, the vehicle display name you chose and when maintenance is due. The Show vehicle names in notifications switch replaces the body with generic reminder text, hiding the name and detailed due phrasing; the service type can still appear as the title. Dedicated cost, vendor, VIN, and receipt-detail fields are never included. You can also use Show Previews in iPhone Settings to hide notification previews.

Where your data lives

On your device, and (when iCloud is enabled) in the private storage of your own iCloud account, so your records sync across your devices. That storage is run by Apple, and only your Apple Account can read it: we have no developer backend and no way to reach your records. If you don’t use iCloud, the app simply keeps everything on your device. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is described in Apple’s privacy policy.

Sharing with your household

You can invite people you choose to a vehicle’s record using Apple’s standard sharing sheet. Sharing is invitation-only — there are no public links — and people you invite can view and edit that vehicle’s records. Shared records live in the owner’s iCloud storage. You can stop sharing at any time, which returns the record to your private storage, and vehicles you never share stay private.

Recall lookups

One feature talks to a server, and it isn’t ours: checking for safety recalls and decoding a VIN use the US government’s public NHTSA database. These lookups happen only when you ask, and send only vehicle identity — year, make, and model, or the VIN itself after you give one-time permission for that vehicle, which you can revoke. They never include your name, contacts, location, or anything else from your records, and the app does no background polling. NHTSA receives the lookup values you send plus ordinary network request metadata, as with any web request.

Exports and transfers

Your data walks out the door whenever you want. You can export a complete backup of everything at any time, and exporting is never paywalled. When you sell a vehicle, you can package its history — organized spreadsheets and receipt images, readable without the app — and the app shows you exactly what the package will contain before it is created, with options to leave out costs or receipt images, and app-internal identifiers are always stripped. Exports happen only when you start them, and you choose where the files go.

Deleting your data

Your data is yours to delete. Removing records in the app removes them from your device and your iCloud sync. A dedicated “export, then delete all data” option wipes everything — records, photos, caches, drafts, and scheduled reminders — after offering you a final backup. Deleting the app removes its local data. We hold no copies to delete on our side.

Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store, with Family Sharing supported. We never receive your payment details. Everything you have entered stays fully accessible and exportable whether or not you ever buy anything.

Diagnostics and developer access

The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting services. It collects crash and performance diagnostics on your device using Apple’s built-in tools, and keeps them there. Reports reach us only through Apple’s standard channels, and only if you have chosen to share analytics with developers in your device settings (or submit feedback through TestFlight). That is the only developer access there is: we cannot see your vehicles, records, or receipts.

This website

runsgreat.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no trackers. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) keeps standard, short-lived logs of requests, such as IP addresses, which we do not use to identify anyone.

Children

Runs Great does not knowingly collect personal information from children, and it sends us no personal information about anyone.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will be called out in the app’s release notes.
